What Is Don’t Waste Your Life?
A Message
We want people to know that they will find their greatest happiness and deepest fulfillment when they spend their lives magnifying Christ.
We want to show them that God loves them, but that this love may be different than they’ve ever thought.
And we want people to see that the unwasted life is the life that seeks its own joy by putting the infinite value of Christ on display for the world to see.
A Book
This message is more fully explained in the book Don’t Waste Your Life.
A Campaign
This year we are trying to spread the message of Don’t Waste Your Life with a more concerted effort. In conjunction with the book, we have created a study guide, a group study kit, and this website in order to help people find their happiness and purpose in Jesus.
Share the Message
If you too want as many people as possible to find their life’s purpose in the cause of Christ, then you may want to share this message with others. Here are some ideas:
- Email this site to a friend.
- Tell your friends about the Don’t Waste Your Life video podcast.
- Pass along whatever you find helpful by selecting “Email to a Friend” on the right side of any resource on the Desiring God website.
- Let us know how Don’t Waste Your Life has affected your life.
- Lead a group study.
- Sponsor books for those who can’t afford them.

Do We Practice What We Preach?
We promote a message that says to deny yourself for the sake of Christ and his cause, so it is reasonable to wonder whether we follow our own direction.
We try to. One of our fundamental values is what we call wartime living. In the same way that a country during war focuses its resources on winning, we also try to focus our resources on the goal of achieving our mission. This means living a strategically simple lifestyle, so that more resources can be directed to war effort. As individuals, we must each discern how the Lord wishes for us to live out a wartime lifestyle. As an organization, we will constantly try to be wise and Christ-honoring with the resources he provides for us.
One practical way we try to show that we are about the gospel, not money, is by giving away all our online resources and offering a whatever-you-can-afford policy on the products we sell.

I just wanted to let you know how much your site has been a benefit. I also wanted to mention that there are two hip hop artists I have stumbled upon. One is Shai Linne, who has connections to CJ Mahaney…look up His name and “the Gospel” on youtube. also, Timothy Brindle, “The Excellency of Christ” sounds like he has been highly influenced by desiringgod.
John
Thank you for your ministry! Whenever I feel like I need a refreshment of my mind I often re-play your DWYL itunes podcast! Very helpful! Speaking of podcast, is it possible to add last videos to it? (treasuring Him sermon jam, DWY sexuality, DWY church)
Keep a the awesome work with this site guys. seriously. it may seem like sometimes the effort put in goes to no use, but that is never true. DWYL and this ministry has done more things unseen than you could imagine, work done by the Holy Spirit all the way through.
So don’t stop…
Grace & Peace

I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
This is amazing
How do I stop wasting my life? I do NOTHING everyday and I do not know how to change it. I TRULY want to change!
Hey, I love your site. It seems most people don’t really bother writing articles that lack substance nowadays.
